Don't Kill the Messenger

I'm tired of thankless jobs. In my line of work, that means administrative committee work.

I hate doing it, but for some reason I'm an admin favorite and I get tapped to serve on all kinds of committees that do nothing but suck my time and energy, all for the pleasure of invariably being the bearer of bad news to my colleagues at large. Or at least that's what you'd think, based on the amount of bitchiness I get thrown back at me.

What I want to do is tell the complainers that I'll happily give up my committee position to them if they think they can do better-- a proposition I can guarantee no one would actually want to take me up on. What I do instead is bite my tongue until it bleeds and placate, placate, placate.

Urgh. Just had to vent.

  1. I think venting about work is important for me. Sometimes when work drove me crazy (e.g. client issues, project issues, people issues)...I would medicate with food. One thing the band helped me to do was to come to terms with the things that made me upset.

  2. I saw your post on Rachel's blog. I try to follow all the bandsters I can. I am not working right now, but I am in the process of getting my real estate license......so it will begin soon enough!

  3. Hello there! Just saw some linkage to you from another blog and thought I would stop by and follow! I find it interesting that you are clinical psychologist and banded...and even though I am hardly a clinical psychologist, I understand being able to help others work through their issues, but be completely unable to conquer your own even when you've identified the problem LOL Frustrating. LOL :) Welcome to the blog land! :)
